Our Friend Aiden

We are so glad to have the opportunity to show off this Youtube feature. Oceanfront Cottage Rentals is so proud of our little friend, Aidan Thomas Hornaday for his great heart for the less fortunate. Aidan is a part time Tybee Resident from Atlanta and enjoys being on our island several weeks each year with his family, including his parents and his sister Sarah and older brothers Zach, Jordan and Blake. He is a special little boy with a giving heart and we are thrilled with his feature on the Savannah station WJCL. Our friend entertainment reporter Jennifer Beale did the segment and it's wonderful.

He is a special little boy with a giving heart and we are thrilled with his feature on the Savannah station WJCL. Our friend entertainment reporter Jennifer Beale did the segment and it's wonderful. In addition, the News Director at WJCL (wjcl.com) Michael Sullivan was instrumental to this story and is one of our homeowners and lives on Tybee with his wife Irene. Irene owns The Irene Sullivan Gallery (link irenesullivangallery.com) which carries some of the finest art in our region.

2 years ago this little 6 year old boy borrowed Jordan's harmonica and began to play. He was self taught and found joy in his playing. Then one night, while bored out to dinner with his parents, Aidan decided that he would play harmonica.  So his first paying gig was at C&S Seafood & Oyster Bar in Atlanta (candsoysterbar.com) one of our favorites and he made $80 in tips. The following day after careful consideration regarding what he wanted to spend it on, he decided. "I have everything I need. I have a happy home, bed, clothes and food. I want to give it to Africa." Part of that reason is that he read a missionary letter the week before, that told of terrible conditions of African children. Since that time Aidan has raised over $3,000 for worthy causes including purchasing medications for intestinal parasites. Each pill is .25 and he continues to raise funds playing in cafes, at private events, on the streets of Atlanta, Marietta Square, River St. in Savannah and Tybee Island of course where Cafe Loco has featured Aidan on several occasions.

We want to help Aidan with his mission to encourage parents and children to start giving before they become adults. It does not matter where you give, we just love his message to give and serve to help others. We are so very happy to be a part of sponsoring Aidan as he begins this endeavor to change his generation at this young age. Go Aidan!  Stay turned for updates on Aidan's adventures teaching that it's never to early to start giving.
