Pirate`s Fest 2009
Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirate`s life for me..............
Every year, we all look forward to the annual Tybee Island Pirate`s Festival so we can ride on our prize winning float and have a good time entertaining the crowd. We were all dressed as pirates and wenches for the day anxiously counting the hours till we got to start the parade. The day started out cloudy and everyone had their fingers crossed hoping it woudnt rain on our parade......litteraly!
Scheduled for a 3pm start time, the parade seemed to stand a chance against the stormy heavens, or so we thought. About 20 minutes into the parade, we were going down Hwy 80 on our float and passing out beads and candy, it started raining, correction, it started pouring!............drop after drop, second after second, we got pelted with rain. At first, we all thought "oh great, we got all dressed up for nothing and it`s raining on our parade" but surprise, surprise, people were still enjoying themselves and asking for beads and candy.
They would roll the windows down in their cars, run along side the float and holler from balconies and the rain didnt seem to damper their spirits. We ended up having a great time (soaked to the bone) making this, the best Pirate`s Fest ever!.............we are already looking forward to next year`s festivities and come rain or waters high.........we`ll be partying on the high seas of Tybee Island GA!!!!
