Join in the fun for the 7th Annual Mardi Gras Tybee! This event is held annually on the last day before the beginning of Lent, February 12-14. It will include a Masquerade Ball, the Mardi Gras Tybee Parade, and the Mardi Gras Tybee Street Party that features free live entertainment & more! The parade will travel south on Butler and head towards the beach on Tybrisa Street.
The origin of Mardi Gras can be traced to medieval Europe, passing through Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th centuries to the French House of the Bourbons. From here, the traditional revelry of “Boeuf Gras,” or fatted calf, followed France to her colonies. This is Tybee’s version of the holiday. We celebrate in gold, purple, and green! Put on your boa and mask to join in on the festivities!
Thursday, Feb. 12, Coco’s Sunset Grille will host the King Cake Party at 7 p.m. Dance to live music, and enjoy Cajun food and drink specials.
