In addition to pet-friendly lodging on Tybee Island, there are a ton of outdoor activities, parks, and even a few Tybee Island dog parks to experience with your pup.
Head to the north end of the island for Jaycee Park in the historic Fort Screven district. At Jaycee, you’ll find a variety of outdoor activities such as picnic areas, a playground, athletic fields, and pet-friendly paved trails. Meander along the scenic waterway crossing walking bridges perfect for walking and cycling with your pooch on your side.
Learn about the long history of this coastal community with a visit to Fort Pulaski National Monument and its nature trails. Take in all the sights and sounds as you step back in time. Pets are allowed within the fort & along hiking trails within the monument on a leash no longer than 6 feet long. They are not allowed inside the Visitor Center.
Don’t miss a day trip to historic Savannah, Georgia for boutique shopping, and plenty of walking along the Riverfront, at the state park, or on one of the several pet-friendly walking tours designed with your dog in mind.
Despite many responsible and well-intentioned owners, dogs aren’t allowed on Tybee Island’s beaches. Violators are even subject to fines in an effort to protect the Loggerhead sea turtle nesting sites and the multitude of migratory birds that roost on the Georgia coastline.
The good news? Your four-legged companions are still welcome on the island to go sightseeing, shopping, or for a cruise on a kayak down the Savannah River.
Please note, most areas require your pet to be on a leash. Also, be a steward of this pristine island by cleaning up after your pet wherever you go. Don’t forget to update your pet tags with a current mobile phone number in case they should get lost.
