Tybee Island Marine Science Center

Discover your love for the ocean and its creatures at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. The Science Center provides year-round programs for island visitors, scouts, and school groups and is focused on creating a unique outdoor learning experience for kids of all ages. They have programming on the beach, in the marsh, on the water, in the classroom, and at The Coastal Georgia Gallery. Hours and Fees

The Tybee Island Marine Science Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed on Mondays & Tuesdays. Girl/Boy Scouts, School, and Family Programs can be booked daily, Monday through Sunday. Admission is $10 per person, and kids four and under are free. Your admission goes to keeping the lights on and animals fed. 

Current Activity Offerings

There are numerous educational programs that take place at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center throughout the year, especially in the summertime, and they are always adding new and exciting programs. Currently, they are offering:

• Beach Walk - For all ages, take a guided walk in Tybee's South Beach - 1 hour
• Sift 'N' Seine - For Kids 9 and older, catch Pompanos, Silversides, Mullets, Sea Jellies, and Crabs - 1 hour
• Turtle Talk - All ages can learn about the amazing lives of sea turtles - 1 hour
• Marsh Trek - All ages discover Fiddler Crabs, Snails, & more - 1 hour
• Sea Turtle Nest Excavation - Go on this rare opportunity to join members of the Tybee Sea Turtle Project to help excavate a recently-hatched sea turtle nest. - 1.5 hours and depends on nest availability and conditions.
